POWER OF ATTORNEY

WHAT IS A POWER OF ATTORNEY?

A Power of Attorney authorizes someone to act on your behalf.  The person you authorize is called your “attorney-in-fact” or your “agent.”  Power of Attorneys are very helpful in many circumstances. Most banks have their own power of attorney forms that allow a person to sign on behalf of another. Many states have particular formats that they require to be effective.

Power of Attorneys contain many important clauses that may be desirable given your circumstances.  Though you can get forms, it is wise to have an attorney prepare one for you especially if you have a particular purpose in mind.
